King of the Mountain Qualifier: Sting vs. Samoa Joe (5/24 Impact Recap)

Since there was no clear cut winner at Sacrifice, Jim Cornette took the World title away from the new champion, Kurt Angle, and will be holding five qualifying matches to see who will win the opportunity to participate in a King of the Mountain match for the championship at Slammiversary. Last week, Kurt Angle won the first spot by defeating Rhino, and tonight Sting will face Samoa Joe in the second qualifying match. Who will win when these two face off for the first time? Weメll find out tonight on Impact.

A video recap of last weekメs events is aired and Mike Tenay and Don West introduce us to a special night of Impact that will feature Sting against Samoa Joe. The Impact intro airs and Tenay hypes the rest of tonightメs show that will feature the LAX vs. Christian Cage & Tomko. Don West then hypes Team 3D, who will kick off tonightメs show.

Team 3D make their way out to the ring with the new TNA Tag Team titles. Don West brings up the fact that last week the reunited Steiner Brothers demanded to meet Team 3D in the ring. Brother Ray gets on the microphone and tells the Steinerメs that they are in the ring if they want to talk to them.

Scott Steinerメs music hits as the brothers make their way to the ring. Brother Ray tells the Steinerメs that it is an honor to be in standing in the ring with them and tells the fans to stand up and give them an ovation. Scott tells them that he doesnメt need to have Ray or the fans tell them how great they are and instead wants to focus on Team 3Dメs モlegacy.ヤ

Scott Steiner tells Team 3D that he has a problem with them being classified as former WCW Tag Team Champions. Steiner says that he was with WCW for a long time and not once did he see them step foot in a WCW ring. Steiner then brings up that the Steiner Brothers were モWorld Championsヤ and defended their titles in Japan and North Korea, while Team 3D were defending the ECW Tag Team titles against nobodies in a bingo hall.

The Steiner Brothers ListScott asks Rick to tell them who they have all beaten, as Rick pulls out a long print out that drops to the canvas. Rick names off the Road Warriors, the Four Horsemen, the Samoan SWAT Team, the Nasty Boys, the Outsiders, the Midnight Express, among others, as Scott cuts him off and asks Team 3D how many future Hall of Fame teams were named.

Brother Ray asks where all of the hostility is coming from. Steiner boils it down by saying that their legacy means nothing to them. Brother Devon grabs the microphone and gets in Scottメs face and says that they were once a great team, but they have never defeated Team 3D. Scott responds by saying at Slammiversary, they can make that change. Brother Ray says it would make him proud to beat the Steiner Brothers.

Leticia is in the locker room with Christian Cage & Tomko. After some bickering back and forth between the partners, Cage claims that the only reason they are in a match tonight against LAX is because Jim Cornette is out to get them. Tomko corrects him by saying he is only out to get Cage. Cage then states that Cornette doesnメt even have the decency to tell him who his opponent will be in the qualifying match. Tomko says he has an idea and tells Cage that he should have given him the title match he was promised and then walks away.

A Slammiversary moment is shown from 2005 where Raven won the King of the Mountain match to become the NWA World Heavyweight Champion at the first ever Slammiversary pay-per-view.

A video recap of the VKM/Christy Hemme feud is aired, which brings us backstage to Jeremy Borash who is standing by with Kip James and Lance Hoyt. Kip says that BG James is still out from the beating he took at Sacrifice but will be back next week. He then tells Hoyt that it is time for him to step up. Hoyt says that he will not let them down and warns Christy that he is not afraid to hit a woman.

Match 1: Basham & Damaja w/ Christy Hemme vs. Kip James & Lance Hoyt
Basham & Damaja work over Kip James with quick tags in and out to start the match. Basham scores a two count on James after landing a leg drop from the middle rope. Kip James begins to fight his way back into the match and takes Basham down on the apron with a clothesline and lands a boot to the face on Damaja.

Before he can do anything else, James is distracted by Christy Hemme, who grabbing his leg. Hoyt comes around the ring and grabs Hemme as James and Damaja knock each other down in the ring. Hoyt carries Christy to the backstage area as Basham & Damaja take James down with a double team leg lariat for the three count.

Winners of the Match: Basham & Damaja by pin fall.

After the match, Lance Hoyt returns to the ring as Basham & Damaja walk to the back with smiles on their faces.

Jeremy Borash is with Samoa Joe backstage. Joe says that after Sacrifice he was without direction, but that ends tonight as he has a golden opportunity by facing Sting for a chance to enter the King of the Mountain match. Joe goes on to say that he respects what Sting once was but will break what he is now.

Another モSlammiversaryヤ moment is aired, this time featuring Ken Shamrock defeating Malice to win the NWA World Championship on the first weekly TNA pay-per-view that aired from the Asylum in Nashville, Tennessee.

Robert Roode and Ms. Brooks join Jeremy Borash backstage. Before Roode talks about Eric Young, he states that he will fight through the best that TNA has to offer to become the next TNA World Champion. As for Young, Roode says that he still owns him and that Young has one week to answer the letter from his attorney or else he will sue him for everything that he has.

Match 2: LAX w/ Konnan vs. Christian Cage & Tomko
The bell rings and the crowd starts a huge モLAXヤ chant as Hector Guerrero looks on from the stands. Before Tomko and Hernandez even lock up, Tomko makes a tag into Christian Cage.

Hernandez takes down Cage and tags in Homicide, who scores a two count after some brief double team moves by LAX. Cage is able to quickly turn the tide, however, and takes Homicide down with a back elbow to the face followed by a sitout suplex which is enough to keep Homicide down for a two count. Cage tags in Tomko who comes in and tosses Homicide around the ring, as we see Konnan turn his attention to Hector Guerrero on the outside, which leads us to a commercial break.

After the break, Konnan and Hector are still talking near the guard railing as Tomko and Cage work on Homicide in the ring. A pair of two counts is scored after Cage delivers a gutbuster and Tomko delivers a power slam to Homicide.

Hernandez is finally able to get into the match by making a blind tag to his partner that has taken all of the punishment for their team. Hernandez muscles Cage around the ring until Tomko comes to his aid. Their tandem offense is short lived, however, as Hernandez launches his partner at their opponents and knocks them down. Hernandez knocks Tomko out to the floor and the team works over Cage in the ring with a quick series of moves but they are only able to keep him down for a two count.

Outside of the ring, Konnan shoves Guerrero, which gets the attention of Homicide as he leaves the ring to see what is going on. Back in the ring, Hernandez sets Cage up for the Border Toss as Tomko returns to the ring and levels him with a clothesline. Cage climbs to the top rope and lands a frog splash and pins Hernandez to steal this match.

Winners of the Match: Christian Cage & Tomko by pin fall.

After the match, Hector Guererro and Konnan continue to fight at ringside as Guerrero climbs into the ring and taunts Konnan to do the same. Konnan motions for LAX to enter the ring, but before they can, Rhino and Chris Harris come out to the ring to stick up for Guerrero.

Jeremy Borash is backstage with Kurt Angle. Angle says he canメt stand either Sting or Samoa Joe. Angle also says that he is honorable, unlike Samoa Joe and Sting, and will tell people what he is going to do before he does it. He then sends a message to the two opponents by saying that he might see them out in the ring.

Yet another Slammiversary moment aired from 2005. Featured this time is the decimation of Sonjay Dutt by the hands of the debuting Samoan Submission Machine, Samoa Joe.

Match 3: Samoa Joe vs. Sting (King of the Mountain Qualifying Match)
The match starts slow with neither of them gaining any ground after locking up a few times. Joe finally gains the advantage with an inverted atomic drop but is quickly taken down as Sting sidesteps his kick attempt and goes for the Scorpion Death Lock, which Joe is able to counter and goes for the rear naked choke. Sting fights his way out of it and tries again for his submission maneuver but Joe makes it to the ropes to make Sting break the hold.

Joe and Sting set up for a test of strength, but of course the move ends by a kick to the midsection to Sting by Joe. Joe works on Sting in the corner with a series of punches, but Sting is able to fight back and land a couple of clotheslines on Joe in the corner as Christopher Daniels makes his way to the ringside area. Sting tries for a Stinger splash, but Joe moves out of the way and follows up with a kick to the head of Sting as we head into a commercial break.

We return to the match to see Joe still in control. During the break, Sting went to the outside and told Daniels to leave, but he remains at ringside. Samoa Joe works on Sting with some rest holds and manages to score a couple of near falls on Sting. Joe finally makes a mistake, however, as Sting is able to reverse a suplex attempt into an inverted DDT.

Christopher Daniels jumps on the ring apron and distracts the ref as he tosses a baseball bat to Sting. Sting tosses the bat to the outside and pushes Daniels off of the ring apron. The distraction is enough to make Sting lose focus of the match as he turns around and walks into a flurry of kicks by Samoa Joe.

Joe whips Sting into the ropes and Sting is able to stop himself to make Joe miss with a kick, but Daniels is waiting on the outside and nails Sting in the back with the baseball bat. Joe lifts Sting upon his shoulders and drives him down to the mat with a Samoan drop and gets the three count to win the match and advance to the King of the Mountain match.

Winner of the Match: Samoa Joe by pin fall.

After the match is over, Mike Tenay announces that next week it will be AJ Styles against Jeff Jarrett for the third spot in the King of the Mountain match, which brings us to the video recap of tonightメs events as Impact comes to a close.

Quick Results
- Basham & Damaja defeated Kip James & Lance Hoyt by pin fall.
- Christian Cage & Tomko defeated LAX by pin fall.
- Samoa Joe pins Sting to win the second spot in the King of the Mountain match.

Match of the Night
- Samoa Joe vs. Sting

Starmanメs Thoughts
Before I offer my thoughts on tonightメs show, I want to express my condolences to the Jarrett family due to the tremendous loss that they suffered this week. My thoughts are with their family.

As for tonightメs broadcast, it managed to go from both ends of the spectrum and back again as parts were great and parts were horrible.

The show started off with a bang with Team 3D and the Steiner Brothers exchanging words in the ring. I said last week that both of these teams may be past their prime, but they sold me on at least one match tonight.

Scott Steiner was actually understandable on the microphone for once, and in a scary thought, he was actually making sense. Iメm sure Iメm not the only one that cringes every time that Team 3D and WCW Tag Team Champions are used next to each other in the same sentence.

To add more fuel to the fire, Scott Steiner said that they should have called themselves the City Champions instead of the World Champions when they were the top team in ECW. This in itself made me laugh hysterically, not to mention the list the Rick Steiner pulled out of his jacket of the teams the Steiner Brothers have defeated in the past.

No, there wonメt be a five star match between these two teams at Slammiversary, hell, probably not even a three star match. However, I could settle for a match between the two if it can be as enjoyable as they were in the ring tonight. That shouldnメt be too much to ask for from two seasoned teams such as these two. Hopefully.

In predictable fashion, Samoa Joe defeated Sting to gain the second spot in the King of the Mountain match. The match between these two was actually fun to watch with all of the reversals and counters that took place. Had it not been for the interference at the end, I would probably have ranked it as one of the better matches on Impact so far this year. The interference, even though it furthered the Sting/Daniels saga, dropped the match down a few notches in my book.

That is the end of what happened that was great tonight... now on to the bad.

I am glad that the VKM/Christy Hemme feud is finally going somewhere, but I think that it is too little too late. This thing has been drug out for so long that, really, I donメt even care about it any more or feel that there is a reason to care anymore. What were they fighting about again? To show that women should have a place in TNA?

How about a feud to show that the X Division should have a place in TNA. At least that would be something to fight over, which, by the way, had nothing to do with tonightメs show.

Furthermore, a bickering non-tag team defeated one of the best current tag teams in company. Wow. And for what? To set up a match between the two bickering non-tag team partners in a qualifying match to see who goes on to the King of the Mountain match?

The crowd has been hot for LAX for some time now, as you might be able to tell with the モLAXヤ and モ3D Sucksヤ chants that have been going on at the Impact Zone. Plus, their t-shirts are available, along with many other non-punk rock items, at Hot Topics everywhere.

At any rate, LAX gets booked in a match against Cage & Tomko and come out looking like the good guys, but then end up losing due to a ringside distraction and looking like the bad guys when their leader attacks Hector Guerrero. Not to mention, the duo who comes to the rescue of Hector Guerrero ヨ Rhino and Chris Harris. What is up with that? Does anyone have an explanation for any of that? I sure donメt.

Finally, I want to say thanks to Fred and Fransisco, who both emailed me and pointed out an error that I written in last weekメs recap. I had stated that the old X Division title had nothing to do with NWA, when in fact it actually had NWA written on the title. I am amazed that I had never caught that before, and goes to prove that I am human after all.

Have a good Memorial Day weekend.

Sacrifice Fallout (5/17 Impact Recap)

Kurt Angle emerged as the World Heavyweight Champion at Sacrifice this past Sunday.  However, the championship victory wasnメt without some controversy as it appeared that Sting had Christian Cage pinned as he was tapping out to Angleメs ankle lock.

Furthermore, prior to the pay-per-view, the National Wrestling Alliance broke their five year working relationship with TNA by stripping Cage and Team 3D of the NWA World title and the NWA Tag Team titles.  What will come from all of this?  Weメll find out tonight on Impact.

Impact opens with highlights from the Sacrifice main event.  Post-match interviews with the three competitors are shown in which Sting states that something isnメt right with the whole thing.  Cage sides with Angle and says that he heard Sting tap out first as Angle says that no one will take the title away from him.

Kurt Angle - TNA World ChampionThe Impact intro hits as Mike Tenay and Don West hype tonightメs show that will feature the fallout from Sacrifice.  Angleメs music hits as Tenay explains to the fans that since TNA has gone global there is a necessity to recognize a TNA World Champion from this point on.  Angle makes his way to the ring with the new TNA title around his waist, which, I might add, looks a hundred times better than the dated NWA World Championship.

In the ring, the crowd chants モwe want Christian,ヤ as Angle states that it took him less than eight months accomplish what he wanted to do, which was winning the World Championship.  Angle announces himself as the new TNA Champion, when Stingメs music hits and he makes his way to the ring.

Sting admits that he tapped out to the Angleメs hold, but says that he also had Cage pinned.  Sting isnメt sure what happened first, which leaves the whole situation up in the air.  Christianメs music hits as Christian and Tomko make an appearance at the entrance of the tunnel.  Cage says that both Sting and Angle claim that they have a right to be the World Champion, however the TNA rulebook states that if there is any indecision, the title stays with the champion, which was him.

Cage makes his way to the ring to reclaim his title as Jim Cornette interrupts him by saying that the one thing that is clear about the title match is that Cage was a beaten man and will no longer be the World Champion.  As for Sting, he had Cage in a pin fall situation, but tapped out so he isnメt going to be the champion, and for that matter, neither is Angle.

Cornette then goes off on a rant and says that he wants a franchise player to be the face of TNA as the fans begin a モJoeヤ chant.  Cornette says that if the three of them canメt be that person that maybe he needs to add some new blood into the mix.  Cornette throws out some names, such as Rhino and Samoa Joe and states that there will be no glass ceiling in TNA, like there is in other promotions.

Cornette is going to take the three of them, plus the two he mentioned earlier and add in another five and have some qualifying matches over the next five weeks.  The winners of all of those matches will participate in a King of the Mountain match at Slammiversary for the chance to become the TNA World Champion.  Cornette ends his rant by wishing all of the competitors luck.

Mike Tenay sends it to Jeremy Borash, who is standing by with Christopher Daniels.  Borash asks Daniels to explain why he would want to have an open invitational first blood match after being busted open by Rhino just days ago at Sacrifice.  Daniels states that there is no logic, only actions and consequences, and even if he doesnメt admit to it, Sting understands consequences.  Daniels walks off as Borash asks what Sting has to do with it.

Eric Young is spotted in the crowd with Stomper, the new TNA mascot.  Since when does wrestling organizations have mascots?

Match 1: Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley vs. Jerry Lynn & Tiger Mask
Chris Sabin comes down to the ring with Bob Backlundメs book in his hands.  Tenay brings up the fact that although Sabin was victorious at Sacrifice, he and Alex Shelley were embarrassed by Bob Backlund later in the night.

Jerry Lynn and Sabin start the match out and quickly trade control of the match with a series of quick moves.  Lynn takes control of the match after taking Sabin down with a hurricanrana from the ropes.  Lynn makes the tag into Tiger Mask as Sabin races over and tags in Alex Shelley.

After some brief offense by Tiger Mask, Lynn is tagged back in and both Lynn and Tiger Mask work on Shelley with some double team moves.  After a couple of failed pin attempts by Tiger Mask, Shelley lands a jawbreaker on Tiger Mask and spits in the direction of Lynn.

Lynn tries to enter the ring but is held back by the referee, which allows Shelley and Sabin to double team Tiger Mask.  Sabin then dropkicks Lynn to the floor as Shelley tries to remove the mask from Tiger Mask, however Tiger Mask begins to fight back and takes Shelley down with a kick to the back of the head.

Soon, the match breaks down and all four men are fighting in the ring.  Jerry Lynn is taken out by an overhead suplex by Shelley, which leaves Tiger Mask in the ring by himself.  Shelley & Sabin double team Tiger Mask with a series of kicks and Shelley follows with a pin attempt for the three count.

Winners of the Match: Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley by pin fall.

As Jerry Lynn is checking on Tiger Mask after the match, Sabin & Shelley attack him from behind, but Sabin ends up hitting Shelley when Lynn ducks out of the way.  Lynn sets up for the cradle piledriver on Shelley, but Sabin comes in with an ensuguri to save his partner.  The two continue on their double team attack as Bob Backlund comes to the ring, but he too is quickly overpowered by Sabin & Shelley.  Jay Lethal comes down and finally clears the ring of Sabin and Shelley, who still leave with Backlundメs book in their possession.

A James Mitchell video package airs in which Mitchell states that he is replacing Abyss with a new creature and will return to his original plan, which is to unleash a destructive force within TNA.

Jeremy Borash is backstage with Kevin Nash who asks what is going on between him and Sonjay Dutt, after Dutt kicked him in the back at Sacrifice, but before Nash can give much of an answer, Dutt comes out and apologizes to Nash.  The two shake hands, but Nash warns Dutt that next time he wonメt be so forgiving.

Match 2: Christopher Daniels vs. Raven w/ Serotonin (Open Challenge First Blood Match)

Christopher Daniels comes down to the ring with a baseball bat and wearing a Sting mask.  If that wasnメt shocking enough for you, Raven is actually participating in a match.

The bell rings and Daniels swings the bat and misses while Raven returns with a series of shots with a kendo stick.  Raven then pulls out a screwdriver from his kneepad and thrusts it at Daniels, but ends up stabbing the turnbuckle instead.

Screwdriver in turnbuckle

Raven then brings a chair into the ring but it backfires and Daniels takes Raven down to the mat with an STO.  Daniels then sets up the chair and repeatedly slams Ravenメs head into the chair.  Raven manages to fight back, however, and slams Daniels down to the mat which knocks the back of his head on the chair.

Raven checks to see if the impact cut Daniels open, but it didnメt.  Frustrated, Raven snaps his kendo stick in half and tries to cut Daniels open with the frayed edges, but Daniels lands a low blow on Raven to stop him from his attack.  Daniels then grinds the kendo stick shard into Ravenメs forehead which causes a little trickle of blood to appear and allows Daniels to pick up the win.

Winner of the Match: Christopher Daniels by causing Raven to bleed.

After the match, Daniels removes the bandage from his head that covered the wound he suffered at Sacrifice and repeatedly head butts Raven, which reopens the wound.  Serotonin enters the ring and Daniels leaves with a sick smile on his face.

Kaz orders Raven to kneel down to take some shots from the kendo stick but Havok and Martyr stop him before he is able to land his first shot.  Raven then takes the weapon away from Kaz and says a few words to him.  Kaz responds by mocking Ravenメs signature pose before leaving the ring without the rest of Serotonin.

Jeremy Borash is backstage with Sting and asks him for his thoughts on the World title situation.  Sting says that it doesnメt matter as he will qualify three or four times if he has to.  Before he can get much of anything else out, a bloody Christopher Daniels appears to thank Sting for the path that Sting told him to follow.  Sting says that he is doing things all wrong and doesnメt know what he is talking about.  Daniels says that he was once lost, but now it seems like Sting is the one that is lost before leaving the picture.

Highlights of the Robert Roode/Jeff Jarrett match from Sacrifice are aired, which brings us to Eric Young who is circling the ring with fans before entering it with a microphone.  Young tells the crowd that Jeff Jarrett taught him to stand up for himself and for what he believes in and states that he is now a free man.

Robert Roode interrupts and makes his way to the ring.  Roode says that despite what Cornette says, he still owns Young and that if Cornette was going to sue him, he would have done it a long time ago.  Instead, Roode is going to sue Eric Young and Ms. Brooks hands Young a manila envelope.  Young responds by mockingly wiping with the envelope, which sends Roode into a rage as he begins to attack Young.  Young temporarily fights back, but is once again taken down by Roode when he is distracted by Ms. Brooks.

The TNA mascot, Stomper, jumps on the ring apron and distracts Roode as one of the fans at ringside slides a steel chair to Young.  Roode turns around to see Young armed with a chair and quickly leaves the ring.

At the announce table, Mike Tenay and Don West hype tonightメs main event, which will be a King of the Mountain qualifying match and will feature Kurt Angle.

Match 3: Kurt Angle vs. Rhino (King of the Ring Qualifying Match)
The bell rings and both spend the opening moments sizing each other up and jockeying for control of the match.  Rhino takes Angle down with a TKO and follows up with a pin attempt but Angle manages to kick out at one.  Angle then tries for an ankle lock but Rhino fights out and slams Angle down to the mat for another pin attempt for a two count.  Rhino tries for the Gore but Angle sidesteps it and sends Rhino down to the mat with a German suplex as we head into the final commercial break.

Back to action and Angle is still in control of the match and has a headlock applied on Rhino in the middle of the ring.  Rhino manages to fight out of it and takes Angle down with a shoulder block.  Rhino then scores another two count on Angle after taking him down with a suplex followed by a spinebuster and another pin attempt for a two count.

Rhino sends Angle into the corner of the ring and hoists him up on the turnbuckle.  Rhino then delivers a superplex of the ropes to Angle and goes for yet another cover, but still only manages a two count.  Rhino sets Angle up for a belly-to-belly suplex but Angle reverses and takes Rhino down to the canvas with another German suplex.

Angle removes his straps and goes for the Olympic slam, but Rhino counters and takes Angle down with a belly-to-belly suplex. Rhino tries again for the Gore, but Angle kicks him as he is charging towards him and follows with the Olympic slam, which is enough to keep Rhino down for the three count.

Winner of the Match: Kurt Angle to win a spot in the King of the Mountain match.

Mike Tenay sends it to Leticia who is in the office of Jim Cornette.  Cornette says that next weekメs qualifying match will be Sting going up against Samoa Joe.  Scott & Rick Steiner enter Cornetteメs office by taking the door down.  Scott Steiner tells Cornette that next week the Steinerメs want to take on Team 3D.  Cornette says those teams will bring in money and guarantees that the match will take place.  Rick apologizes for the door as we head into the video recap of tonightメs events, which brings Impact to a close.

Quick Results
 - Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley defeated Jerry Lynn & Tiger Mask by pin fall.
 - Christopher Daniels defeated Raven in a first blood match by cutting Ravenメs forehead.
 - Kurt Angle pinned Rhino to earn a spot in the King of the Mountain match at Slammiversary.

Match of the Night
 - Kurt Angle vs. Rhino

Starmanメs Thoughts
Tonightメs show was huge and was exactly what the TNA needed going into one of the bigger pay-per-viewメs they will have this year.  The opening segment with Angle, Sting, Cage and Cornette was predictable but it was solid and came off great.  While having the qualifying matches isnメt an original idea, we should at least get a few good matches coming up in the next few weeks.  I am looking forward to seeing who gets paired up in the matches and to see how it all plays out.  If given some sort of time to develop, the Sting/Joe match next week could be a decent match.

Also scheduled for next week is a match between the reigning TNA Tag Team Champions, Team 3D, and one of the greatest tag teams of all time, the Steiner Brothers.  Being a huge fan of wrestling in the 80メs, the nostalgia factor alone of the Steinerメs getting back together is enough for me, however, it is also one great tag team from one era against another great tag team from a different era.  Sure, both teams are past their prime and the match probably wonメt be that good, but hey, it is two of the greatest tag teams ever going at it.

Speaking of past their prime, Raven made a return to the ring tonight.  Not only am I a huge fan of 80メs wrestling, but I am also a huge Raven fan ヨregardless of what shape or form he is in.  Yes, he is out of shape and is getting quite the gut on him, but I can look past that as seeing him pull the screwdriver from his kneepad was classic moment.  I will admit, though, that I was disappointed by the lack of blood that was drawn in a first blood match.  I have cut myself shaving and have drawn more blood than that.

A couple of final thoughts ヨ the new World Championship is a huge step up from the NWA title.  Donメt read that the wrong way ヨ I am not talking lineage at all, I am talking specifically in the design of the belt.  One thing I always disliked about the NWA title was the fact that it looked so small and meaningless.

I actually liked the old version of the X Division title and donメt see why they had to change that one in the process as well, especially since that one had no ties with the NWA anyway.  The two look a lot alike anyway, so the change is really insignificant.

Since when does a wrestling promotion need a mascot?  I donメt really see any point in having one ヨ at least not one like they have a Major League Baseball games.  Knowing TNA and their tie-ins with baseball, it wouldnメt surprise me in the least to see Stomper take on the mascot of the 2007 World Series Champions (my money is on the Minnesota Twins) in the near future.

Either that or it will be used as a disguise by Jeff Jarrett to interfere in a match.

Today in Wrestling History: After a brief seven month absence, the Intercontinental Championship is reinstated and is awarded to Christian, who won a nine-man battle royal at the Judgment Day pay-per-view in Charlotte, NC.  2003.
