Weekly Wednesday update
At today's weekly press conference, UND coach Dave Hakstol said there was no new information on the status of Chay Genoway.
Hakstol said that he can only re-report what he did on Saturday: Genoway is out indefinitely. There is no timetable for a possible return yet. That's all that UND is going to say about the injury for now.
"There's nothing different from Friday night, there's nothing more to go on," Hakstol said. "I don't mean to be difficult, but that's the simple fact. That's where we're at."
Other topics at the press conference included Denver's depth, the success of the two programs and hits from behind.
Hakstol said he thinks the rulebook is written correctly in order to try to prevent hits from behind, but he says there will be plenty for the coaches to talk about at the Florida meetings after the season.
I brought up some of the early departures that the program has had in recent for a story I'm working on for Friday. I mentioned Jordan Parise and Rastislav Spirko as two guys who didn't seem like early departure candidates.
Hakstol shook his head thinking "what if" UND would have had Spirko around until he was a senior. He would have been a junior on the team that went to the Frozen Four in St. Louis -- the squad that featured the DOT line. Spirko would have been a senior on the team that went to the Frozen Four in Denver. "He would have been a difference-maker on those teams," Hakstol said.
