NCAA to release clarification on headshots
After several controversial hits to the head early this WCHA season, there was recently an emergency conference call with the NCAA Rules Committee. The WCHA asked the Rules Committee for a clarification on hits to the head.
This call happened even before Chay Genoway was taken into the boards from behind during Friday night's game. Who knows how long Genoway will be out. This is the third straight season that the Sioux are dealing with an injury from a hit from behind [story about that here].
Meanwhile, St. Cloud State forward Aaron Marvin talked to the St. Cloud Times about his illegal hit from behind on Genoway. Marvin, of Warroad, said that he feels bad about the hit and that "there's no place for checking from behind like that." He also said that he agreed with the call and the suspension. Read all of his comments here.
Commissioner Bruce McLeod confirmed today that there will be no further action against Marvin.
