The girls are hanging out at home tonight watching the Super Bowl. Robin and Lindsey are more or less just watching for something to do, but Kristin is a big Colts fan. She's yelling at the TV and everything.

Here's the actual conversation we had earlier this evening about tonight's half-time show...

Lindsey: Yay, I'm glad Prince is doing the half-time show.
Robin: He is a very attractive man. We've had this conversation before.
Lindsey: Yeah, I think pretty much anyone on the face of the planet could be seduced by Prince.
Kristin: I would not be seduced by Prince. He's weird looking.
Lindsey: Whatever. Even Pablo could be seduced by Prince.
Robin: If Prince came in here right now, you would totally be seduced by him.
Kristin: No I wouldn't. I hope he isn't wearing his butt-less pants tonight.
Lindsey: I hope he is wearing his butt-less pants tonight.
I'm sitting on the couch watching The Colbert Report, as I usually do on weekday evenings. During his regular segment "The Word" he talked about Wikipedia. Specifically a phrase he coined - Wikilobbying.

In July of last year, Colbert introduce the word "Wikiality," a word he says means "truth by concensus." If everybody believes it to be true, it must be true.

Tonight, Colbert took on both the truth and Wikipedia again. He challenged viewers to edit a certain Wikipedia entry. You can watch the video on Comedy Central's site.

The entry on "Reality" seconds before Colbert's challenge:

The entry on "Reality" seconds after Colbert's challenge:

The entry on "Reality" a few more secondes after Colbert's challenge:

Now that's wikiality!

I have to admit, I get a kind of warm fuzzy feeling when I see how the internet + a popular TV show + a few prank-lovin' nerds = teh awesome.
Not that I don't think she'd make a good president.

Not that I don't think she'd make a good president. She may turn out to be the best person for the job. However, I'm not ready yet. At least not emotionally.

You think there was drama with John Kerry? The guy was bland as toast. Even Wesley Clark (who I insist on calling "The General") got some media backlash when he entered the presidential race. Can you imagine the kind of drama that's going to come flowing out of Fox News when things start getting heated up? They've already started on Barack Obama for pete's sake (that story turned out to be totally humilliating for Fox News, which I thought was awesome).

Some poeple aren't like me, though, and enjoy drama. And that's ok with me. Everyone needs a passion in life. If you happen to be one of those folks, allow me to pass along some information. According to Newsweek magazine if you're going to read political blogs, these are the two to read: Redstate and Daily Kos. These two will give you a relatively complete picture of today's politics (but read them both! If you only read one, you only get one side of the story!)

I think part of the problem with me not wanting to get involved in too much political drama has to do with who I am and where I am in life. What politician runs on a platform that greatly affects middle-class, 20-something, unmarried women in the professional field? We're a completely ignorable demographic. Is it because we have disposable income? Is it because we're not using things like welfare, social security, medicare, nursing homes or schools?

Or is because many of us don't vote?

I guess if that's the reason, then it's a nasty circle, isn't it? We don't vote because politics don't affect us. They don't affect us because politicians know we don't vote. Maybe having Hillary run won't be so bad then. It's hard to forget what you once were. At least I hope that's true.

Update 1/29/07: I knew it. I just can't handle this kind of drama yet! It's too early!
From the today's Op/Ed page Dale A. Heger, Fargo, letter: Clinton is dangerous and power-hungry

Get a DVR. Seriously, we don't even need to remember to watch TV. We set it up once and it records the series that we tell it to. When you feel like watching, you sit down and watch your recorded shows.

So now we have all of these shows recorded on our DVR. And I'm looking at it like I would look at any other type of electronic media. There's information on there, there's gotta be a way to get it off...There are a million and one input/output plugs and slots. But I don't know if Cable One would appreciate me attempting to hack the hardware we're renting from them. People like me are probably the reason they make you secure your account with a credit card if you rent equipment.

Also, something screwey just happened with our quotes sidebar. What's going on there? What kind of lazy script kiddies put this site together? You need to get someone to supervise your sloppy code. (I'm just kidding!)
