Former Cobber Johnson signs with Saints
Former Concordia catcher Kyle Johnson signed with the St. Paul Saints of the American Association over the weekend.
Johnson had played in three games for the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks after finishing his career with the Cobbers in the spring. Johnson set the Concordia school record for home runs in a season with 14.
The Saints also signed former RedHawks third baseman Jeff Eure over the weekend.

Cobbers' Johnson, Schumacher earn baseball honors
Concordia catcher Kyle Johnson (pictured below) has been named the NCAA Division III Midwest Region baseball player of the year and also earned third-team All-American honors.
Cobbers first baseman Scott Schumacher was named to the All-Midwest Region second team. Johnson was an All-Midwest first-team selection.
Johnson, who was also named Most Valuable Player for the MIAC, batted .404 with 14 home runs and 36 RBIs in 33 games. He set the school record for home runs in a season.
Schumacher batted .423 with five home runs and 28 RBIs in 32 games.
Johnson signed with the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks shortly after he completed his senior baseball season, but has since been released.

The end of the "Scotty" era
Minnesota State Moorhead sports information director Larry Scott is retiring this summer after 40 years on the job. Better know as "Scotty" to most, he came into contact with thousands of athletes, media members and people in the community in his four decades on the job. Coste honored in display at Concordia
Former Concordia star and Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks catcher Chris Coste has a display, which is located on Concordia's Athletic Hall of Fame wall in Offutt Concourse, to honor him for being part of the World Series champion Philadelphia Phillies last fall.
In the display case, there is a Coste game jersey from the Phillies as well as an autographed bat, ball and baseball cap.

Cobbers' Johnson named MIAC player of the year
Concordia senior catcher Kyle Johnson has been named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference player of the year.
Johnson, from Cam-bridge, Minn., tied a MIAC record with 10 home runs in conference play.
Johnson tied for the league lead with 22 RBIs this spring and batted .429 (24-for-56) with 22 runs and 16 walks in 20 conference games.
Overall, Johnson batted .404 with 14 home runs and 36 RBIs in 33 games, setting a school record for home runs in a season.
After completion of the Cobbers season, Johnson signed with the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks of the Northern League. Concordia (15-18, 8-12 MIAC) finished ninth in the conference.
