book challenge 2009
I'm borrowing this from Liz over at Blogger, but I think it's an awesome idea: I challenge any of you who are interested (along with myself) to read fifty books this year. If you have a blog, feel free to report either: 1) your progress or 2) your final list at the end of 2009.
Here's my "starter" list. I'll add to it as I go along, as well as include a link to this page on my blog for easy access to the ongoing results. Happy reading!
- Gathering Blue by Lois Lowry
- Al Capone Does My Shirts by Gennifer Choldenko(Newberry Honor Book)
- The Color of Water by James McBride
- Getting Near to Baby by Audrey Couloumbis (Newberry Honor Book)
- Mockingbird: A Portrait of Harper Lee by Charles J. Shields
- Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt
- Redeemed by Heather King
- The Shack by William P. Young
- Acedia & Me by Kathleen Norris
- Grace Cafe by Donna Marie Cooper O'Boyle
- Our Lady of the Lost and Found by Diane Schoemperlen
- Before We Get Started: A Practical Memoir of the Writer's Life by Bret Lott
- Hanna's Daughters: A Novel by Marianne Fredriksson (in progress...)
- The Middle Place by Kelly Corrigan
My daughter, Olivia, has jumped on board, too, and I've offered to post her books as well. Here are hers:
- The Giver by Lois Lowry
- Gathering Blue by Lois Lowry
- 10 Ways to Make My Sister Disappear by Norma Fox Mazer
- Mr. Popper's Penguins by Richard and Florence Atwater
- Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney
