Daugaard: $1.3 million on hand
Republican Lt. Gov. Dennis Daugaard just released his year-end fundraising numbers to his supporters:
Dear Friends,
This afternoon, I filed my 2009 Campaign Finance Report with the Secretary of State. I wanted to you let you know about last year’s success.
In 2009, our campaign brought in $777,442.26 in total receipts. At the end of the year, we had $1,278,277.15 on hand. Let me share a few facts about this report:
- We received gifts from over 1200 individuals or couples. These gifts came from supporters in 119 different South Dakota cities and towns.
- Over half of the gifts we received were in an amount less than $500.
- 96% of our donations came from within South Dakota.
- 98% of our donations came from individuals, rather than Political Action Committees or other political committees.
Of course, this campaign is about more than fundraising, and we’ve been working hard to meet South Dakotans and earn their support. Since I began campaigning full time in November, I’ve visited over sixty cities and towns in every corner of this state. I’ve enjoyed the chance to see many of you and to visit about the future of South Dakota. I’m going to continue to work hard in the days ahead.
Linda and I are grateful for the level of support you have continued to show us. As I’ve often said, I don’t have the ability to “self-fund” this campaign, and I wouldn’t be able to run for governor without the support of so many friends. You’ve shown me your support not only financially, but also with the time and effort you have spent on my behalf. Thank you.
