Sweet words
On our way to work, my husband takes Emily to daycare. He goes one way on interstate ,and I go the other way. Just before the entrance ramps we drive side by side; he rolls the window down, and Emily and I wave one last time. My husband called me at work to tell me that this morning after our ritual, Emily said, "bye, bye, Mommy," then she paused and said "I love my mommy." What a sweetie...I smiled all day long. I love my Emily!!

Long time
Oh my goodness, its been a long time. We survived Mexico and actually had a little fun. Emily did okay, but she did miss us. It took two weeks for her to recover from separation anxiety so I wouldn't do it again at that age.
Since then, Emily has been busy growing and learning. We went to California with her this past Memorial Day weekend. She did great. She was good on the plane and at my sister's place. We went to an animal park and she wanted to look at the ducks - seriously we could've driven a half hour or so for that. Oh well. I will post pictures soon of the trip. No, really.

Leaving my baby tomorrow
I choked back tears all the way to work this morning. Tomorrow we leave for Mexico for five days without Emily. Tonight I have my grad class so she'll be asleep when I get home, and we'll leave before she wakes up. This morning my husband let me hold her to the point of him almost being late. It was really rough. I know she'll be fine and will have fun at daycare during the week and at auntie and uncle's this weekend, but it's still really hard. My husband asked if I would need a sedative and I said yes, tequilla. I guess I'd better bring the Advil too! I'm starting to cry so I'm going to stop writing. We'll have fun, right?

A Family Trip
So Friday afternoon we piled into a 15 passenger van with Emily and her Daddy's family. We drove and drove and drove to Mankato. I really thought it was closer. Saturday the family spent the day skiing and sledding. Unfortunately we found out when we got there that Emily is much too short to sled so we spent the day in the lodge watching all the people. Sunday morning we finally had a few minutes. I was so excited to take Emily swimming in the pool. She didn't have quite the same excitement for it. I think she lasted about five minutes before she was crying for daddy to hold her outside the pool where it was safe. Then Sunday afternoon back in the car, drive, drive drive home. It was a tough weekend for Emily, but despite a lack of sleep, she did amazingly well. Then Monday we had the day off to recover-thank goodness. She really needed it. She was a little crabby but two naps later she seemed like herself again. I won't call daycare to make sure.

Let the Translations begin...
Emily is talking quite a bit now. She will even speak in full sentences, I think. Other than "mama", nice, and "No", the words are not understandable. She does say "Da", but I can't figure out what that's supposed to mean. I did figure out one phrase the other day. She said "ma um" which translates to my num (as in my nummy nummy), or I want the goldfish on the counter (not that I would necessarily understand it a second time). It's so cute; she'll repeat the word and give it more emphasis putting her whole body into it when I don't understand.
