The happenings of a baby girl and her family

Walking soon...

Emily took three steps this weekend.  She lifted her hand off the chair, paused a second to balance, and took three steps before falling into my arms.  Then Daddy came home, and she did the same thing for him.  She does really great walking behind this little toy shopping cart at daycare, and at home she barely needs two hands anymore as she uses little tables and couches to make her way around the family room.  Very exciting stuff!

Emily is advanced?!?

My husband picked Emily up from daycare on Monday.  Our daycare provider told him that our daughter is advanced.  O.k. so far so good.  Then she proceeds to tell him that Emily was playing with a toy when a little boy who is maybe three and a half took the toy from her and walked away.  10 month old Emily immediately crawled after him, bit him in the arm, and took her toy back.  I find myself a little shocked and alarmed and maybe a little proud of her.  Don't mess with my daughter!

Of course the little boy said he doesn't like baby Emily any more.

Daddy and Emily get Friday off!

It's Friday and Daddy and Emily get the day off - our daycare provider is hunting today.  Poor mommy has to go to work.  On the bright side I'll be having lunch with a very important client!

Oh, and the newest On the Minds of Moms issue is out...can't wait to get a copy!

Halloween Recap

Emily loved Halloween.  She dressed up as a little duck, and we met Grandma and Grandpa and Cousin B and family at the mall.  She thought it was great.  She loved all the kids and the noise.  Of course 10 months is a little young for candy, but when we took her home, she  really seemed like she was on a sugar high.  I will try to post pictures soon.

Unassisted Stand - Go Emily!!

This weekend Emily let go of the couch she was using to stand up and went for my open arms.  It was so cute because she'd tried not long before and got so excited she wobbled and fell into my arms before she even let go, but this time she really concentrated.  She squared herself up with me, focused (almost looked like she was adding to her diaper), and slowly when she was confident, she let go.  She stood for a second or two on her own before she sort of fell into my arms.  I'm sure it won't be long before she realizes she just needs to balance and then put out her foot as she leans forward, but for now we are all pretty excited for the unassisted stand.
