<![CDATA[Last night I went to a rehearsal of the Prairie Oasis Players and their production of "State Fair."They did a great job, but there was one big thing missing from their performance as far as I can tell: a sword fight. The musical is about an Iowan family bringing their best hopes to the Iowa State Fair in 1946, which is cool, but it had absolutely no sword fights whatsoever. And really, what musical couldn't use a sword fight? Think how much cooler it would be if Chicago ended in a duel to the death between Velma and Roxie, or how neat it would be if the gangsters from Guys and Dolls had a neat little sword-scrap with the cops.]]>
