January 1958: How to Get Chicks
Here we have a somewhat creepy but very cool ad from the 1958 Globe.
The illustration has absolutely nothing to do with the ad, but it certainly is an eye-catcher. If somewhat disturbing.
I know the Worthington Hatchery used to be pretty big business in this area, although I can't remember much else about it.
I can't help but like "A chick today means a check tomorrow" as a slogan. It's catchy!
On the other hand, I can't quite imagine how a chick can be "time-tested" and "proven." Do they give the little birdies tests?
Here I'm imagining an itty bitty treadmill with chicks wearing leg warmers jogging on it.
Probably not.
